Secondary Methods II: Modern Languages

Course Summary: This course focuses on standards-based unit plans, current issues, and reflective professional practice for World Language Teachers.

Student Expectations: three formal observations,3-4 mini-lessons, and 2 interviews (one interview of a student and one of a cooperating teacher). In addition, the student is to do informal observation, tutoring, assist the cooperating teacher by correcting quizzes, making copies, gathering and handing back materials, and uploading grades and attendance using the school’s software.

Cooperating Teacher Expectations: to allow the Methods student to tutor some students in need, work with students during group activities, to correct quizzes and/or tests, to accompany the cooperating teacher with duties (hall/bus/cafeteria), to coach the student on the use of the school’s software for recording grades and reporting attendance, and to allow the methods student to present two to four 30 minute lessons.

Field hours: Includes a minimum of 30 hours of fieldwork.
