Explore and Choose a Major

Our academic advisors assist KSC students with course selection, how to choose and complete a major, how to meet graduation requirements, how to use MyKSC and online resources, and other academic concerns.

As you explore academic paths, keep these tools for choosing a major in mind:

  • The Course Catalog: read course descriptions and select courses that interest you.
  • Requirements for the Major: review program planning sheets or academic department four-year plans to determine the content of majors.
  • Faculty: find out what your professors find most interesting about their academic fields. Does this resonate for you?
  • Alumni, local employers, KSC staff, community members: ask individuals you meet about their academic path to a specific career. Sometimes knowing what career you desire comes before choosing an academic major.
  • What Can I do with a Major in…: know the range of career opportunities connected to majors.
