Director, Academic & Career Advising 603-358-2453 As the director of Academic and Career Advising I have the pleasure of working with a talented and diverse staff of professionals who touch a student's life in some way every day. Though I direct the day to day function of the program I also maintain daily and regular contact with students either in one-on-one appointments, through the Orientation and Peer Advising Programs or as an advisor for a few student organizations. I have the pleasure of sitting on numerous committees on campus to look at the many ways we interact with our current, past and future students. I like nothing better than when apparent divergent thoughts and plans begin to intersect and come together. It feels like we're all walking on the same sidewalk. I have worked at Keene State for many years and still look forward to going to work every day. Being a member of a constantly changing and evolving community full of accomplishments and struggles fills me with energy. To be able to answer a question, share a laugh or plan a future makes every day a treat.

Associate Director, Academic & Career Advising-Advising 603-358-2461 I love college. I have experienced both a tiny liberal arts college - 1/5 the size of KSC - and a huge university about the size of Keene (the city, not the college). Once I began college, I never wanted to leave…and never have, starting here at Keene State in 1986. Although my focus has shifted from Career Development to Academic Advising, I use my background in both fields when working with students. I advise anyone needing to put together a solid academic plan; I particularly enjoy helping first-year students get off to their best possible start here at Keene. Being a "first-gen" myself, I identify with students who are the first in their family to go to college. I love helping them figure out how to squeeze everything they can out of Keene State. One great way is through selecting courses that can expand knowledge beyond the classroom; another is by studying away for a semester, whether it's abroad or here in the States. My semester in Paris changed my life, making me realize I could do anything. It sparked an amazing thirst for travel, which is a phenomenal teacher. My office walls are covered with the evidence…come by and see.

Associate Director, Academic & Career Advising-Career 603-358-2067 As Associate Director I teach students (and alumni) about the career development process through individual appointments, class presentations and workshops. A goal of this process is to assist students in finding their passions and suggesting realistic steps toward achieving them. I encourage students to take advantage of all the outstanding curricular and co-curricular opportunities at KSC that will assist them in developing skills and gaining experience important for a smooth transition to the professional world and/or graduate school. I strive to help students make meaningful, satisfying career choices. I have worked in higher education for over ten years with most of that time spent in career and academic services. My educational and professional experiences have allowed me to live and create networks in wonderful places such as Florida, New York and Virginia, but I am excited to be back to what was and always will be home - New Hampshire. I embrace the career motto: "Do what you like, like what you do" (Life is Good).

Job Developer 603-358-2154 I am delighted to be a part the Academic and Career Advising team at Keene State College! As Job Developer, I work with KSC students as well as the businesses community to facilitate employment and internship opportunities. These opportunities offer excellent ways to gain valuable experience as you prepare for your career. I also provide assistance with job search skills, resume writing, interviewing, and networking. JobWISE, ACA's job posting website, is an excellent resource for employment opportunities. Whether you are looking for part-time employment during the academic year, a seasonal job, a summer internship related to your major, or your first professional position after graduation, JobWISE can help. Having worked in career development for many years, I thoroughly enjoy working with students as they achieve their academic and career goals. I invite you to utilize the many resources that Academic and Career Advising offers and look forward to working with you!

Academic and Career Advisor 603-358-2373 As an Academic and Career Advisor, I work with many different student populations - first year students who are undecided about their major, transfer students coming to Keene State, students who are thinking about changing their majors, students who are struggling academically and those who seek assistance with job search materials and skills. One of my favorite things is presenting career information sessions and workshops for classes and student organizations. I am also an advisor to the campus chapter of Active Minds and to a Learning Living Community that focuses on transitioning to the professional world and/or graduate school after Keene State. One of my personal commitments to Keene State is that every student I encounter will graduate with a firm, professional handshake. I've lived in the Monadnock Region for 38 years, and before joining Academic and Career Advising, I worked in Human Resources Management positions in high tech publishing, banking and higher education for over 20 years. I am an informal student of positive psychology and enjoy expressing myself artistically both inside and outside of the workplace.

Administrative Assistant 603-358-2452 As the Administrative Assistant for Academic and Career Advising my job is to help manage the Department’s resources and assist in the planning and execution of communications and events. My day can consist of helping to create a newsletter, developing new online communications, or coordinating a campus event. This variety keeps the days interesting and means there’s always plenty to do. I enjoy the opportunities to work face to face with both students and staff while also utilizing my technical skills and creative energy to continuously help find solutions and improvements to the myriad of ways that we work to help KSC students succeed. Since graduating from Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH with a degree in Business Administration I have worked in this field for several years, and my experiences have taken me from the west coast in Seattle to the Boston area, and now back to New Hampshire. I am also a Keene State alum, graduating with a degree in Music Composition, which gives me a great deal of sympathy and understanding for the needs of our students and all of the hard work and effort they put into earning their education.

Academic and Career Counselor 603-358-2462 Since my first position as an assistant English language teacher with the Japan Exchange of Teachers (JET) Program, I have loved working closely with students and hearing about their dreams and future plans. My career in education has landed me a variety of contexts including public and private schools and colleges, language institutes and non-profit organizations both in the United States and abroad (Japan and Switzerland). While job responsibilities varied, I always found great joy in helping students realize their dreams.

Senior Program Assistant My position as Sr. Program Service Support Assistant in Academic and Career Advising is quite unique. I get the best of both worlds...a job I love and a great place to work. Working at the front desk of the office provides me an opportunity to continually learn and grow in my position. Our office meets with all students who attend Keene State College. We organize Freshmen Orientation and transfer registration which gives me the opportunity to welcome to KSC all freshmen, transfer and readmitted students. I have worked at KSC for 19 years, beginning as administrative assistant of the Telecommunications Office for one year, followed by nine years in the Bursar's Office, and now going on 10 years in ACA. Prior to working at KSC, I was an editorial assistant for the Keene Sentinel. My professional background enhances my ability to assist students, parents, faculty and staff at KSC. Every day is different. Every student's situation is different. I love that about my job and am more than happy to answer students' questions regarding registration, schedule adjustment, program planning, form completion and the numerous other questions asked every day at the front desk.

My goal and responsibility is to individually support students in becoming successful members of our KSC community. I greatly enjoy guiding students through all the academic opportunities and support services on campus, and helping them to make well informed academic choices for their time in college. I look forward to seeing them grow into being their own best advocates for their education and their life beyond KSC. My responsibilities also include meeting with first-year and transfer students, evaluating transcripts from other institutions and collaborating with the Community College System of New Hampshire.

Academic and Career Counselor 603-358-2455 Throughout my entire professional career I have worked with students in higher education. It is such a privilege to work with students during this stage of their life. Prior to coming to Keene State College I worked with students in areas such as academic advising, disability services, admissions, counseling, residence life and teaching. As an Academic and Career Counselor at Keene State College my primary responsibilities are working with transfer students. Having made many transitions in my own life, going from a medium size state school to a small liberal arts college to a large research university, I understand first-hand the challenges and excitement associated with these changes. |
