Internships

Internships (a.k.a. - cooperative education, practicum, externship, etc.) allow you to earn credits and gain valuable work experience in paid and unpaid positions related to your academic studies. Internships are a great opportunity to explore careers, gain professional skills, develop professional networks and build your resume.

Internships are supervised and approved by academic departments, but Academic and Career Advising can help you brainstorm internship possibilities, prepare resumes and cover letters, and practice for the interview.

Community Service

Community Service is an opportunity for you to address and reflect upon local community and/or larger societal issues while making a difference in the lives of individuals. Through community service you have the potential to develop leadership skills, explore personal and societal values, explore careers, develop professional skills and networks, build valuable resume experiences, and apply classroom knowledge.

For more information on community service opportunities, contact the Community Service Office.

Service-Learning

Service-Learning combines community service with academic coursework. It is an outstanding opportunity for you to be actively involved in the learning process while solving community problems and becoming a civically engaged community member. As you participate in meeting community needs, you can explore your educational and career choices.

Undergraduate Research

Research provides the opportunity for you to work closely with a faculty mentor, apply and further investigate classroom concepts, work collaboratively, prepare for graduate school, and explore career options all while developing communication, problem solving, teamwork and critical thinking skills.
